Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi insists he won’t be detracted by his opponents after his nude photos went viral online.
Mr Maangi has come under defense from regional leaders led by County Governor James Ongwae who backed him to take legal actions against masterminds of photo circulation.
Speaking in his Bomachoge backyard, Maangi said he was focused on ensuring the county realizes development and labeled those behind the motive as 'idle' minds.
“I won’t be detracted by those people who want to defame me. I am focused to work for the people of Kisii and circulating photos cannot bring food to people’s table,” he said.
“It’s only idle people who waste their time doing such useless things. It’s wrong to use our youths negatively instead of empowering them to change their lives positively,” he added.
Though Mr Maangi avoided saying his next course of action, he urged youths to be agents of change by shaming leaders who were out to taint images of other.
“We are blessed to have very brilliant youths but they are being misused. This is how youths lose focus and remain poverty stricken for longer times. Time has come for them to change for the better,” Maangi added.
He urged area leaders to promote peace and morality within the society through community-based organisations.
