Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati is in trouble after he publicly claimed that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i may be assassinated by cartels.
Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi claimed that police should investigate Arati for making such claims in public.
“Arati must be interrogated by police and tell them how sure he is that Matiang’i will be assassinated by cartels. It is evident that Arati might have participated in an assassination process so he knows when, where and why someone like Matiang’i can be assassinated,” he said.
Maangi said elected leaders should step up efforts to fight illicit trade in this country and ensure fake products don’t penetrate into the country’s markets for consumption.
“As leaders, we must support each other and work closely to bring down illegal businesses and cartels importing fake products to the country. Fight on counterfeit products should involve all of us and not only Matiang’i,” he said.
The deputy Governor called on Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi to ensure police officers intensifies a crackdown on contraband sugar among other fake products in the region.
Maangi was speaking on Thursday at Isena village in Bobasi Sub County.
