The two Kenyans who were accused of masterminding crimes against humanity in the deadly post lection violence of 2007/08 will be waiting for a landmark ruling that will determine whether or not they have a case to answer.

Joash Maangi during an exclusive phone interview with us on Tuesday accused ICC of targeting ‘wrong people’ and saying the case will crumble.

“From the beginning I have always had that strong conviction they (Ruto and Sang) are innocent," said Maangi.

"They have been unfairly subjected to a tedious court process over crimes they never did. It’s only a matter of time before they are freed,” he said.

“ICC went for the wrong people because in the first place, they were not even contesting for presidency. I wonder how people who were not  in the presidential elections race would organise violence against fellow Kenyans,” he said.

He challenged ICC to drop the case and let the government of Kenya fully focus on integrating communities and resettling of people who were displaced from their homes.

“Even though I condemn the deaths which occurred, I think they did a shoddy investigations. The case is likely to crumble and before that, it’s upon the prosecutor to drop the cases unconditionally,” he said.

“I have known the Dp for a long time and I don’t think he would have been behind such unprecedented violence. Kenya has moved on and ICC should give the government a break to concentrate on strengthening relationship between Kenyans,” added Maangi.
