Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has told off those criticizing his move to vie for the Kisii County gubernatorial position saying it is his democratic right to vie for any political seat.
Maangi, who hinted that he was in the race to unseat his boss James Ongwae during Jubilee Women leaders meeting at Gianchere on Monday, says that those who are underestimating him should be prepared for a rude shock come August poll because it is going to be a "Goliath vs David' contest.
"I want to tell you that I will be like David in the Bible. I am going to run for Governor,"he said.
The Deputy Governor says that he is the man to consolidate peace in the region and that those labeling his decision as betrayal are not sincere.
However, Maangi's entry into the race that is slowly becoming crowded, is said to have rattled the Senator Chris Obure camp who is seen as the Jubilee Party prefered candidate in the county.
Both Maangi and Obure decamped to Jubilee from ODM.This therefore means that they will have to battle it out for the JP ticket first before taking on ODM's James Ongwae.
Maangi's entry takes the number of those who have declared their interest in the seat to five.
Others include incumbent James Ongwae, Senator Chris Obure, South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya, Lumumba Nyaberi of Wiper and Boniface Omboto who is still shopping for a party.
