The Kisii deputy governor, Joash Maangi, has urged those initiating that the portrait of President Kenyatta be replaced with that of former PM, Raila Odinga, to understand the origin of having a portrait in the offices before making such remarks.
According to Maangi, who is also the chairman of the deputy governor's council, termed the initiation as having no value since at the moment we have one head of state who needs to be respected. He was speaking in his office on Wednesday and said that leaders need to understand the origin of the portrait before saying whose portrait needs to be in the office.
''As leaders, we need to understand the origin of this portrait in our offices before propagating matters,'' said Maangi.
The deputy governor said that the portrait represents independence and should be taken seriously by all Kenyan citizens. He, therefore, urged the members from the opposition to stop initiating their motion of changing the portrait of the president and respect the authority in power.
This comes after Governor Cornel Rasanga of Siaya said that the portraits of the president to be charged.
