Just days after the Political Parties Tribunal upheld ODM's decision to expel him from the party, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi is set to appeal his expulsion.
The tribunal which supported expulsion of Maangi alongside Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, Kwale Women Representative Zainabu Chidzuga and MPs John Waluke of Sirisia, Stephen Kariuki of Mathare, Samuel Arama of Nakuru Town West and Nominated MP Issac Mwaura said that ODM's move was within the confines of the law.
However, Maangi who is keen to unseat his boss in the August gubernatorial race is keen to avoid the likely situation where he may lose his seat hence his decision to appeal the tribunal ruling.
According to Maangi, his close association with the Jubilee Party which he intends to use as his political vehicle in the August poll is for the sake of development in the county.
"There is nothing wrong working with Jubilee because the two levels of government are interdependent," Maangi was quoted by the People Daily.
Together with Senator Chris Obure, Maangi is a key Jubilee figure in the region that is slowly turning into a battle ground between the ruling party and the opposition NASA coalition.
