Sub-county representatives of people living with disability of deafness in Kisii have paid deputy governor Joash Maangi a courtesy call.
During the visit, Mr Maangi said the county government was committed to offering them job opportunities.
“The Kisii County government recognises persons living with disabilities, and we encourage them to apply for jobs and tenders when advertised so that they improve their well-being because as a county government we are committed to implementing the public procurement and disposal act of parliament, that stipulates 30% of all public procurement be set aside for youth, women and persons with disabilities,” Maangi said after meeting the representatives of people living with deafness.
The deputy governor added that there was a plan to further empower people in the county living with disabilities.
“I encouraged the association to update us with the number of their members especially students and pupils so that as a county government we can allocate them resources to cater for their needs.”
