Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo has called for an immediate clean up of the voter register by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission saying that the anomalies in the register are grave and should not be overlooked.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Monday, Maanzo said that there was enough evidence to prove that the voter register needed cleaning, and urged the IEBC to act swiftly to avoid a marred electoral process.
"The biggest challenge to the IEBC is cleaning the voter register. There has been a lot of allegations surrounding the voters register and most of it is coming out to be true," he said.
"We can now clearly see what is being prepared and we call on the electoral body should take this issue seriously," he added.
The legislator also noted that technology was a key factor to ensure that the anomalies in the electoral process were reduced and in ensuring only eligible voters vote.
"The use of technology is key in identification, to ensure that we don't have dead voters voting and elections are not manipulated. You know rigging of elections starts many months before the elections are held and this calls for the seriousness of the IEBC," he said.
