Makueni Member of Parliament Dan Maanzo has been the latest political leader to call upon Siaya Senator James Orengo to intervene in the ongoing row within opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA).
Speaking on Radio Citizen Sunday, the Wiper Democratic Party (WDM) lawmaker urged Orengo to surrender his recently acquired Senate Minority Leader post to save the coalition from a pending collapse.
The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led side has been riding on a rough road lately, following the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) senators' move to eject Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula from the post, with Maanzo now saying that the solution lies in Orengo's hands.
''Orengo is a good leader but he must admit that it is not his time yet to lead in that capacity. He should demonstrate his goodwill for the alliance by rejecting the post, failure to which NASA will continue to disintegrate,'' said Maanzo.
He said that the same will also earn Orengo more respect and admiration among Kenyans, boosting his candidature in future contests.
''He vied for presidency earlier but was not lucky enough. However, Kenyans might consider supporting him in the future should he pass the test lying before him,'' he added.
However, in a change of mind, Wetangula now says that he is no longer interested in the post.
