The Maasai Council of Elders is demanding Sh5 million from the government in order to spearhead voter registration mobilization exercise.

This is after figures from the first week of registration indicated that the region had low numbers.

According to the elders who were speaking in Narok, they understand the grassroots and they need funding to make the people register as voters. 

Led by Chairman John ole Maitai and Executive council member Joseph Lemein, the elders said that they will use traditional methods to have locals register as voters.

The elders further accused IEBC of failing to conduct proper education.
