Cord leader Raila Odinga may face the wrath of Maasai elders after a section of them threatened to curse him over remarks he made during the burial of William Ole Ntimama.

During the burial of the veteran politician, Mr Odinga made a claim that before Ole Ntimama died, he had called him to give assurances that he had not decamped to Jubilee.

The statement did not go well with Maasai elders who accuse the ODM leader of disrespecting the dead.

According to the elders, before Ntimama died, he had publicly declared that he had decamped to the Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee coalition.

"It is unfortunate that Raila made false remarks against a man whom we know has a character of hard stance," Julius Ole Ntaiya who is based in Kajiado was quoted by one of the local dailies.

"According to the Maasai culture, when an elderly man dies, his last words spoken publicly stand and no one should claim anything to the contrary," he said.

"Even if it is true that he spoke with Raila before his death, the late Ntimama would still have convened a meeting to communicate the change of political inclination."

"He should seek forgiveness and blessings from the Maasai elders. We won't support ODM in 2017 over his remarks. ODM  stood a chance of getting several votes from the Maa bloc, but bow, we will vote in favor of Jubilee," another elder Daniel Kanchori added.
