One of the leaders from the community who spoke to us on condition of anonymity said that ODM ward representatives had already sponsored a motion to remove Magelo from office.

“It is totally unacceptable for Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok to lead the process of impeaching Magelo yet ODM members voted for him in 2013,” he said on Sunday.

He added that if the MCA does not withdraw the motion the marriage between the Maasai community and ODM will be over.

“The community has supported the party since its inception in 2007 and ODM party leader Raila Odinga has enjoyed massive support across Maasailand," he said

He said that Magelo has been a great pillar to the Maasai community and he ensured that the rights of the community were protected.

He asked Cord leader Raila Odinga to intervene saying that the move clearly indicates that the Maasai community has been marginalized.

“We are aware they planning to use their tyranny of numbers to remove the Speaker and if they make good their threat, they should forget our votes because we will ensure Uhuru is re-elected and the Cord leader defeated,” he said.

Analysts believe that if Magelo is impeached the coalition will suffer a political setback after pledging to support the Maa community.
