Residents of Mabatini in Kesses-Uasin Gishu county have been warned against consuming raw milk.
This follows a recent rise in the number of residents seeking medical attention due to the infections caused by the bacteria found in the unboiled milk.
Speaking to the residents during a sensitisation campaign organised by a non-governmental organisation in the area, John Kiprop, a veterinary officer advised the locals to embrace boiling milk noting that it is very beneficial to their health.
“Anybody taking unboiled milk is endangering his or her life as the milk contains bacterial organisms that may lead to contracting diseases like Brucella and Salmonella,” Kiprop cautioned.
He added that animals come into contact with several organisms when they feed either from the environment or water which is why milk should be boiled in order to kill the bacteria.
