Machakos county is among four counties that will receive National Government's cancer screening machine.
Speaking in a breakfast meeting at Villa Rosa Kempiski Hotel in Nairobi Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said that 20 percent of Kenyans are at risk of getting cancer due to poor eating habits.
Macharia said that the government will start a campaign to sensitise Kenyans on the need to go for cancer screening.
According to Macharia the machine have already been acquired and will be in the country before the end of the month.
Besides Machakos other counties chosen are Homabay, Kakamega and Kiambu county level five hospitals
Macharia confirmed that the first fully equipped cancer facility will be opened in Machakos before the end of this month.
Meanwhile First lady Margaret Kenyatta has urged Kenyans to improve on their eating habits to avoid lifestyle diseases.
