Machakos County deputy commissioner Joseph Ole Leina has urged Bodaboda operators in Machakos Town to be vigilant and demand to know their passengers.

Speaking to Bodaboda operators on Thursday, Commissioner Ole Leina said that operators also have a role to play on matters security.

Ole Leina said that he has been receiving cases of some operators being robbed and assaulted by their customers.

“Bodaboda and Tuktuk operators must be vigilant and work with Police in identifying criminals,” said Ole Leina.

The deputy Commissioner further asked the operators to put in place security measures for their loyal customers.

He said that with security scares being experienced in some parts of the country, it will be important for every citizen to be vigilant.

The Commissioner cautioned the operators against conducting their business into the night saying that criminals take advantage of the darkness to rob them.

Ole Leina however, assured the operators that the county government has initiated strategies that will promote the area residents’ safety.

“There is no need for fear, we are working under the clock to protect the residents,” said Commissioner Ole Leina.
