Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has unveiled his plans to use modern technology in the construction of roads in the county during his second term in office.
According to a local daily, the second term county boss said that poor technology has been derailing the process of road construction in the region, adding that this is a thing of the past following the new development.
He argued that the old techniques used in road construction have made the process to take too long before completion while at the same time makes the projects too costly in the end. He spoke during the launch of the tarmacking of the new 20km Kivandini-Masinga road.
“We take forever to complete projects mainly due to poor planning, logistics and laxity,” Mutua said, as quoted by The Star.
The road construction is involving the application of bitumen and tarmac on each of the one kilometer in 10 minutes as opposed to an average of one hour under normal conditions. The county said that the process reflects the plans of the county government in relation to his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement slogan.
Once complete, the road is expected to Musingini, Mutwamwaki, Masinga, Mikimari, Kalundu and Kivuthi markets to Masinga town.
