Kivaa member of county assembly Alexander Kithinzi is the new majority leader of Machakos county assembly.
This is after 17 out of 30 MCAs voted out Masinga central member of county assembly Joshua Mwonga who has been the majority leader for four years now.
Speaking after the session, Mwonga congratulated Kithinzi and asked him to give him ample time to pack his things and vacate office.
Addressing the press after his election, Kithinzi thanked those who voted for him saying that the election was conducted free and fair. He however rubbished claims that there is a plot to impeach Machakos county governor Dr Alfred Mutua where he noted that that can only be resolved by members of the county assembly when the time comes and not him.
Last week, the outgoing majority leader Joshua Mwonga had hinted that a section of the MCAs and mostly from Cord had threatened to impeach him if he failed to sign for the impeachment of governor Mutua.
Mwonga who is a close friend to the governor said that the plan to impeach the governor won't succeed because its just a move by greedy MCA's who want to be given public funds for squandering.
