Addressing locals at Machakos town on Friday, the MP said that access to water remains a challenge to area locals.

He said that for many years water access has been a problem and that the county government must intervene and help locals get the precious commodity.

The MP noted that many locals have no access to water connections adding that they depend on vendors for supplies.

“Lack of clean water is the biggest problem facing Mavoko people. Residents have to walk for long distances and spend a lot of money to get clean drinking water,” said the MP.

The legislator urged the Machakos government to fast track its plan of drilling boreholes in the constituency, saying that it will help curb the problem.

The MP said that since the area experiences drought most of the time, it will be good if boreholes are drilled.

The legislator noted that access to clean water is a basic right for every citizen and that the government should work towards providing it.

Meanwhile, the Machakos MP urged the government to boost security in the sub county.

He said that intensified security will give residents confidence of conducting their business without fear.

“Our security apparatus must remain alert and avert any instances of crime, we can never afford to sleep when our enemies are plotting attacks,” added the MP.
