Machakos County Implementation Committee chairperson Alphonce Wambua, who is also, Kaewa MCA has called on the county government to pay the elderly as stated on the latest budget presented to them.
The MCA has given the county government one week notice to deliver their promise to the county’s elderly men and women.
The county has allocated funds to the elderly people above the age of 65 years in its budget; they are to receive Sh2000 per month.
Speaking when giving out bursary funds to students at Kaewa, Wambua said that it is now two weeks since the funds were released and he do not understand why the money has not reached the beneficiaries.
“You know well that I called you here to verify the names of the fund beneficiaries. Its now two weeks since the money was released and the beneficiaries are yet to receive it,” says Wambua.
The MCA has threatened to hold a peaceful demonstration if the elderly will not have received the money.
