After a long strike that even never heeded to the court order issued for Machakos county doctors to suspend their strike, the medics have finally come to terms with the Machakos county government on Friday.
Apparently, His Excellency the Machakos county governor Dr Alfred Mutua had to put aside his pride and held talks with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Dentist and Pharmacists Union officials.
The negotiations have finally born fruits as the striking medics agreed to take up their work tools and attend to the Mal situation in public hospitals in the county having signed a new Memorandum of Understanding.
" We are glad that the Government of Machakos County and the county Doctors have reached an agreement to end the doctors' strike that had interrupted normal operations in some of our health facilities." Read a statement released by the governor after the deal was struck.
"I commend the cabinet sub-committee led by Eng. Francis Maliti and the KMPDU officials for their unrelenting efforts to ensure that an amicable solution was reached. Normal services and operations in our hospitals have resumed," the statement further clarified.
