Machakos County residents will in the next two years spend less money on the purchase of drugs for medical care from hospitals.

This is after Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua partnered with the Danish Government in a bid to secure and have access to an independent assessment of value for new drugs of interest.

‘’Our goal is to provide the highest-quality, safest, and best-value pharmacy benefit to our veteran patients. The fact that we leverage our buying power to negotiate the “steepest discounts in the country” for prescription drugs should be celebrated and not be a cause for concern,” Said Mutua.

Mutua who held a meeting with Danish Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Mette Knudsen said that an automated healthcare solutions company, the “bigger, unspoken concern of pharmaceutical companies is the precedent that the collaboration may set for price negotiations applied to other populations, such as Medicare and Medicaid.

‘’ I am grateful for their support in healthcare and water programs in my County and look forward to partnering with them on the provision of civic education on governance to the People of Machakos County,’’ added Mutua.

The long-term partnership will last four the next five years and is aimed at reducing the amount of money that patients use in purchasing of drugs for medical purposes.
