Governor of Machakos county Dr Alfred Mutua has stated that the county government has set aside Sh80m to be issued to needy students.
Speaking on Tuesday, Dr Mutua called upon the members of county assembly to forward the names of needy students from their respective wards by Monday evening.
"My government has Sh80 million ready to be issued to children who have applied for bursaries. I urge MCAs to go to their wards, collect the names from the committees and bring them to my government so that I can release the cheques," said Mutua.
Mutua further stated education will be boosted if every needy bright student was issued with the funds available no matter how much is available.
"Its very important for children to get educated if there are available funds even if its Sh5 or Sh100.
By Monday evening, names should be handed to finance office so that children go back to school as soon as possible," he added.
Mutua has also advised the MCAs to forward the projects or issues suggested by their people from the grassroots level during the public forums.
"Maendeleo Chap Chap is for the people aimed at fostering development," said Mutua.
