[Photo|Francis Maliti]Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti took Peter Kimeu, a boy from a disadvantaged family in Itikoni village to Machakos School for his secondary education.Kimeu who schooled at Kwa Mutula primary in Mbiuni, Mwala, overcame odds to score 350 marks in last year's KCPE. He nearly missed the opportunity to join secondary school due to lack of school fees. The boy who aspires to be an engineer is under the care of his has grandparents. "I have taken up the responsibility of catering for his education through high school and beyond. I will also mentor and support him in whichever way I can so as to enable him achieve his life goals," said Maliti on Friday."As a County government, Education is a right we are committed to seeing our children from all walks of life enjoy equally. That Peter's case is not isolated is not lost on us and we have set aside a bursary kitty to educate our children especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds."He noted that they were also going to engage stakeholders in the education sector with an aim to improve the quality of Education in the County.
