Machakos County Director of Emergency services David Mwongela has urged drivers in the county not to speed to reduce accidents.
Speaking on Wednesday after a road accident which involved two trucks along the Nairobi-Mombasa road at Mto wa Mawe, Mwongela warned drivers from over speeding due to the area’s terrain.
“I urge driver to be more careful on the road especially on slopes and bridges. Many Kenyans have lost their lives through road accidents,” said Mwongela.
He added, “Road accidents can be prevented if only our drivers can be responsible,” notes Mwongela.
The two trucks collided head on when one truck driver tried to overtake another vehicle while over speeding. The drivers of the two trucks were injured and had bone fractures.
“Emergency officers from Machakos County arrived at the scene and the victims were rushed to Athi River Shalom Community hospital for treatment,” said Mwongela.
