Machakos first lady Lilian Nganga has challenged the county and national governments to increase their funding on cancer awareness programs and screening.

Lilian was speaking in Kisiiki dispensary, Mavoloni - Yatta sub-county where she took the cancer awareness program Thursday.

According to the Health County executive Naomi Mutie, so far 5,000 residents have been screened in the awareness campaigns and 15,000 residents in the hospitals.

The first lady herself began this program in the county to ensure early detection after screening and educate people more on cancer in the rural areas of the county in order to have a healthy people in the county.

The screening is currently ongoing in Kisiiki dispensary.
