Yatta Member of County Assembly (MCA) Felix Ngui wants the Machakos County government to be active and deal with unemployment.
The MCA noted that unemployment remains the key problem facing the youths in the ward, suggesting that the problem can be tackled through formulation and implementation of policies.
“Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua pledged to fight unemployment, he should fast-track his promise to ensure most of these young people have jobs,” he said.
The ward representative noted that many youths are being lured into crime because they have no access to employment.
Ngui said that if uncontrolled, unemployment will remain a big obstacle to development, further calling on the private sector to chip in and help find solutions to deal with lack of jobs.
The MCA at the same time asked youths in the ward to come forward and work with ward leaders, urging them to attend various forums meant to empower women in the area.
Ngui urged leaders in the ward to share ideas that will help address the problems facing the people.
