The MP who spoke from his office on Saturday said that many youths have talents that if nurtured will help to address unemployment.

The lawmaker noted that talents growth has the potential to improve the living standards of the youth.

“Machakos government should put in place programmes that will nurture youth talent for economic development,” he said.

Munyaka said that sports can be used to address the rising cases of unemployment among young people.

He observed that sports are taken as a profession in many countries across the world and that the same must be seen in the county.

Munyaka added that there is real money in sports and urged youths in the county to venture into various sports like soccer and athletics.

He at the same time asked the national government to take seriously matters touching sports and provide direction in its management.

The MP said that wrangles being witnessed in some sports federations in the country will have a negative on the development on sporting activities.

At the same time, Munyaka asked the county government to improve road infrastructure and install street lights in Machakos town and adjacent areas.

Munyaka observed that some of the street lights installed are not working and there is need for installation of more flood lights.

He further observed that some of the lights have been vandalised and have not been repaired for months.

The legislator said installation of proper street lighting will encourage a 24-hour economy and further boost socio-economic development.

He also asked the county to invest in CCTV surveillance saying it will help in motoring and curbing crime.
