Residents of Slaughter Slum in Athi River town have faulted Machakos Government for failing to make easy and reliable water accessibility a reality.
They said leadership of the government keep politicizing the water issue while it was not doing much as far as provision of the important commodity to county residents is concerned.
"We are tired of mere words that Machakos Government is committed to providing clean, reliable and accessible water while we are suffering a great deal," said Joan Mbithe.
Mbithe said the slum had not received water for the last two months, a situation that had made life too difficult for majority of the residents to bear.
Resident John Onyango said they were tired of empty promises and lies that the slum and Athi River Sub County as a whole had been provided by water by the government.
"Everybody should know that the government is propagating lies about water provision in this county, it is in this slum that its leadership lied that they had provided clean water including showers," said Onyango.
They spoke to this writer at the slum on Thursday.
