Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said his government will partner with National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to establish County Transport and Safety Committees to address road carnage.
In a post on his Facebook page, Mutua said he on Tuesday held a meeting with a delegation from (NTSA) to chat way forward on the subject matter.
"My government is committed to work with all agencies mandated to improve road safety and protect the lives of our citizens," Mutua posted.
Mutua said the committees will develop and implement a specific county transport plan for Machakos aimed at ensuring easing roads congestion alongside conducting safety awareness and public education.
He said the committee will also conduct registration and licensing of motor vehicle taxis operating across the county, assign designed areas and hours of operation of boda bodas and ensure signage in the roads.
"We must commit ourselves to doing our individual part in ensuring our roads are safe, my government is ready to supplement those efforts to keep our people safe," Mutua said.
