Governor Alfred Mutua on Thursday met the county's engineering team, meeting in which rapid resource implementation and works schedule were mapped out.

Mutua said a total of 54 roads spread across all the 40 wards across the county had been identified for grading and rehabilitation and contracts awarded to various companies to undertake the task.

“The roads have been identified through a public participatory process which involved members of the public and their respective MCAs,” Mutua said.

He said the program will include fixing culverts, drifts, spot improvement and murraming to motorable standards.

Mutua said various contractors had been awarded tenders worth Sh280 million while a further Sh200 million would facilitate complimentary works supervised by county engineers bringing the total cost to Sh480 million.

“Additionally, my government has released to each of the eight sub counties graders, tipper, excavator, dozers, shovels, rollers among other county equipment to work on a complimentary internal program targeting to improve feeder roads within the wards,” he added.

To fast track the program, the governor further directed all sub county road engineers, sub county administrators and road overseers posted to each ward to meet all MCAs in the respective sub county headquarters for consultations and review of the program.
