Omoding said the filthy situation is a time bomb to diseases outbreaks in the region.

“There is public outcries on the pathetic condition of sanitation in the sub-county, residents are finding it hard to live with solid wastes and raw sewerage flowing allover in the open,” said Omoding’.

He spoke to this writer at his office in Athi River town on Friday.

Omoding’ said the area public health officer should effectively execute his constitutional mandate of ensuring public health safety without fear or favor.

“As we speak now the situation is out of control, we call upon Nema to come to the residents’ rescue,” said Omoding’.

He said members of the public should petition Machakos government on the unhygienic situation because they are the tax payers.

“We do not want any demonstrations that will create disturbances, breach peace and order in the sub-county, we will not entertain any demonstrations over the poor sanitation or for whatever reasons,” said Omoding’.

Omoding’ said public demonstrations scare aware investors and lead to unnecessary loss of lives and destruction of property.

He said residents should channel their grievances to relevant authorities through right procedure and channels.

“We will ruthlessly deal with anybody who tries to interfere with free flow of traffic either on Mombasa Road or elsewhere within Athi River Sub County,” said Omoding’.

Omoding said Machakos government should handle the sanitation issue before the situation worsens.

He said the government should not compel agitated residents to demonstrate for it to provide necessary services including collecting garbage and ensuring proper disposal of raw sewerage in the sub-county.
