Residents of Mavoko Sub County have threatened to stage demonstrations over a stalled public hospital in Athi River town.
The locals accused the county government's leadership of ignoring the proposed Mavoko Level Three Hospital though the health functions had been devolved.
"Governor Mutua should stop concentrating on his newly initiated projects while ignoring those initiated by other politicians, these stalled projects in Mavoko must be completed once and for all," resident Janet Mwambua said.
They spoke to this writer at Makadara in Athi River, Machakos County on Tuesday.
The proposed Mavoko Level Three Hospital project in Athi River town was launched by the former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti during her reign as the area member of parliament.
The residents said they had been neglected by the county government.
"It is a while since the hospital's construction stalled after Wavinya Ndeti exited office as an MP, Mutua's first term ended without the facility getting touched. The structure is still incomplete and we are not seeing any signs of it being completed soon," another resident Paul Kimani said.
The CDF funds which were allocated by Ndeti for the project was not adequate, could not complete it hence its installment.
Kimani said the Machakos government should complete the project so that the tax payers money do not go into waste.
"We have problems with pregnant women and children overcrowding in private clinics and lack of attention in public dispensaries," said Kimani.
He said the residents' plea to the county government for the project to be completed had hit a snag since its leadership had turned deaf ears.
