Machakos County Government has been urged to construct boda boda shades at Masii town in Mwala, Machakos County.
The call was made on Monday by the boda boda operators who operate within the town and its neighborhood.
The youths said they need shelter to use while at work especially during harsh weather conditions.
Led by their chairman Danson Kyalo, the youths lamented that they find it hard to go on with their work during rainy or harsh sunlight seasons.
"We undergo a lot of trouble when the sun shines and during heavy rains where we are forced to shelter under shops," Kyalo said.
Kyalo said the Machakos government constructed one boda boda shade in the market during the campaigns period in 2017 which is far from their work place.
"That way, only traders benefit from the shades and not the boda boda operators. Only people who sell fruits and vegetables benefit from the shade not us since its very far from where we operate from," he added.
Kyalo said the county government promised to build them another shade but had not fulfilled the promise.
