A chief from Machakos has asked the county government to fence Savanna Dam in Matungulu in a bid of curbing unnecessary deaths.
Pius Nzioka of Tala Location said four people had drowned and died in the dam over the past two years.
Nzioka addressed the public at Tala town in Matungulu Sub County on Thursday.
“We don’t want to continue losing innocent lives in the dam, the Machakos government should move with speed and fence it to prevent locals from accessing it,” Said Nzioka.
The administrator said body belonging to Francis Muli (35) was on Tuesday retrieved from the dam after his oxen reportedly pushed him into the waters.
Nzioka urged the residents to avoid moving closer to the dam to avoid risking their lives.
“Residents should avoid going near the area instead they should push for the dam to be fenced to prevent more deaths in future,” Nzioka said.
