Governor Alfred Mutua’s office has faulted the Machakos assembly for rejecting names of five nominees presented by the governor for CECs positions.
In a statement read by the governor’s press secretary Mutinda Mwanzia on Wednesday hours after the rejection, the office said the County Assembly Appointment Committee acted in bad faith by rejecting all the five names for ministerial positions nominated by the governor.
The governor’s office claimed the vetting process had been infiltrated by malice and partisan political considerations.
“The committee has been hell bent to stop the executive from executing development and providing services to wananchi,” the statement signed by Mwanzia read in part.
The statement further stated the governor wishes to urge residents to tell their MCAs that they were not elected to engage in empty and mindless politics but to serve best interests of their electorates.
The governor’s office said it was unfortunate the committee rejected a nominee on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations.
“It is worth noting that all petitions by one Charles Kyalo were withdrawn because they were disowned by the advocate who had purportedly drawn it,” the statement read.
Apparently criminal proceedings have been instituted against the petitioner for forging an advocate’s stamp.
The Wiper party enjoys majority of members in the county assembly while the executive is led by Governor Alfred Mutua who was re-elected on his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party which he formed after quitting Wiper in 2013.
Mutua’s office believes it is in backdrop of this that Wiper wants to hit back at the governor for abandoning the Kalonzo Musyoka led party.
