EALAs Peter Mathuki Sunday announced his bid for the Machakos Gubernatorial Sunday.
Mathuki had attended a Sunday service at AIC Kasina, Mlolongo. Mathuki also reinstated that the Wiper party will hold free and fair nominations and that there are no preferred candidates.
Peter Mathuki was elected to The East Africa Legislative Assembly as in June 2012. Mathuki is also the Wiper party deputy secretary general.
In EALA, Mathuki has been credited for the rapid reforms in the institution. Mathuki once filed a motion to impeach the speaker of EALA Dr Zziwa for mismanagement and being an obstacle to smooth running of the regional Assembly.
Mathuki is also the chair of legal rules and privileges and the chair of committee of good governance in East Africa.
In 2015, Mathuki led EALA in election observation mission in Tanzania's general elections. He also led the regional chamber house team in the observation mission of Uganda's general elections in 2016.
Mathuki's love for peace and stability has seen him involved in mediating and bringing peace in Burundi following disagreement after 2015 general elections.
Mathuki has been mentoring students at different levels and schools and personally touring the institutions to talk to them. He has also invited some students to EALA to learn about regional integration.
Mathuki will square it out for the Wiper ticker with Bernard Kiala.
