Speaking on Friday outside the administration offices of the hospital in Machakos town, the suppliers threatened to withdraw their deliveries if their payments are not made urgently.

Joseph Munyao, a vegetable supplier, who was among the complainants stated that despite his willingness to provide the hospital with fresh and quality vegetables, he was not able to do so without funds.

“I have not received my payments and this is the third month. The vegetable prices have gone up, like a cabbage used to go for Sh50, now it is up to Sh75,” he said.

“We want the hospital to pay our money so that we continue with the supply without undergoing losses,” added Kiilu.

Machakos management through Collins Silla, a senior officer, assured the suppliers that the hospital had already put in measures to ensure their dues are paid in the shortest period.

“We have aligned a plan that will see our suppliers of both food and medicine paid in a short duration. There is an officer who has been assigned and given an office to deal with the payments that had been delayed,” said Silla.

The suppliers were however given a mobile number that was made available by the hospital management that will enable reach them for clearance of the dues.
