The hospital, which is the biggest health centre in Machakos County, has received several equipments including, beds, mattresses, chairs, maternal healthcare machines, weight check machines and other hospital equipment.

Speaking during the event in Machakos hospital on Saturday, the deputy Chairperson on Afya Plus Kamili organization Dr Regina Bayaki stated that this was one out of 11  counties that would benefit from their donations.

“We are aimed at donating similar equipments to 11 Counties and our main objective is mainly to improve our maternal health services in different level 5 and other hospitals, so as to take care of the new born children and avoid high death mortality rates that are caused by lack of the right resources,” said Bayaki.

Speaking during the same event, Health CeC Naomi Mutie stated that the equipment will help save the lives of many mothers and children, together with equipping the hospital wards with the beds and mattresses as it receives a big number of patients from all Machakos County constituencies.

“I appreciate the ‘Afya Plus Kamili’ foundation in association with USAID for the help they have extended to our hospital. This Foundation has been helping a lot of groups in Machakos County including supporting the orphans and vulnerable in our society, helping in leadership and governance,” said Mutie.

She further urged the hospital workers together with all health practitioners to handle the equipment with care, so that they serve the locals for long.
