Speaking in Machakos Level 5 Hospital grounds, the county executive for health Naomi Mutie condemned illegal sale of drugs by the hospital medical practitioners blaming them for drug shortage in public hospitals in the region.

“It is illegal to sell the medicine that is supposed to help residents who cannot afford to buy medicine in private pharmacies. The illegal sale has become much rampant hence making patients to suffer. If you feel you are not satisfied with your salary resign instead of selling drugs meant for helping patients,” said Mutie.

The minister said that the contract first phase will has started up and is expected to end in April; the second contract will be signed on May this year.

This comes barely a week after a section of Machakos Members of County Assembly lamented over lack of medicine in public hospitals in the county.
