Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has assured residents that Kenyatta stadium will host a horde of Cecafa Senior football challenge matches come next year.

This comes barely days after Confederation of African Football CAF stripped off Kenya of hosting the Africa Nations cup Chan where Machakos' Kenyatta stadium was one of the stadia that were set to hold some matches.

Mutua has now assured Machakos residents that he will hold talks with Football Kenya Federation officials to deliberate on the bid for the stadium to host some Cecafa Senior football challenge matches.

Mutua was speaking as he toured the Kenyatta stadium which was fully renovated following the Africa Nations Cup championship that wais set to be hosted in Kenya.

"I will ensure that Machakos County continues been the best option for all spotting activities in our country. I want Kenyatta stadium to host as many international matches as possible for that will promote sports tourism within Machakos County," said Mutua.

Mutua was accompanied by Kenya Sports Association officials as they toured Kenyatta stadium after the refurbishment process that was ongoing completed.
