The Machakos county deputy Governor, Mr Bernard Kiala, Susan Musyoka the women representative of Machakos county and Machakos central Member of Parliament Cornelius Kitheka on Tuesday firmly condemned the brutality imposed by Kenya Police to demonstrating citizens in Machakos town and also in Nairobi.
Speaking at a public meeting in Machakos, these leaders said that it was against the constitution of which allows for peaceful demonstration whenever citizens have to express their grievances to the government.
"It was extremely inhuman for the police officers to harass fellow Kenyans like the way they did, yet the demonstrators were carrying mere beaches that could do no harm," said Mr Kiala.
The demonstrations had been initiated by Cord coalition of political parties, to call for dissolving of IEBC commission, claiming that it's not fit to ensure free and fair elections for Kenya.
Kiala added that there is no threat that will stop the people from pursuing the dissolution of that commission.
"Next Monday demonstrations will go on here in Machakos again, Kangundo, Mavoko, Masinga, Mwala and Matungulu until the national government responds to the people's demand," declared Kiala.
