Outgoing Machakos Diocese Bishop Archbishop Martin Musonde has called upon all political leaders to fulfill the promises they made to the electorate during the campaign period.
Musonde was addressing residents and Machakos leaders on Wednesday at Dr. Alfred Mutuas’ residential home in Miwani Location in Machakos County, during his farewell ceremony.
“Machakos leaders have seen and heard you make promises to your people, you should give what you promised the residents because they trusted you with the positions on the basis of what you pledged to do. This will not only be an honour to the residents but also to God,” Said Musonde.
Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua made it clear that his government is willing to work with the church leaders and even Imams in Muslims.
“My government is willing to work with the Catholic Church because churches reach the residents at the grassroots levels and clearly know what ups and downs the people are facing currently,” said Mutua.
"I want us to work together such that even the government funds can be disbursed to the church so that they are released to serve the public. I am willing to work with all churches and even the Imams from the Muslim side,” added Mutua.
The farewell ceremony was the last event that the Archbishop would share with the people of Machakos Diocese as their Bishop, after he was elected to be installed as the Mombasa Archbishop in an occasion set to happen on February 21 2015.
