A 55-year-old man committed suicide in Itundumoni village in Kyevaluki location, Machakos County two days after allegedly injuring a friend during a disagreement.
Confirming the incident, Kyevaluki location assistant chief Scholastica Mweu, stated that the man was found hanging on a tree on Monday evening near his home in Itundumoni by his neighbours.
“I was alerted by the residents who were passing-by his home that he was hanging on a tree and when I rushed to his home, he was already dead. It seems he had committed the act earlier when no one was around,” said Mweu.
The man had on Friday been accused of getting involved in a physical disagreement with a friend which resulted to him stubbing his friend in the stomach and severely injuring him.
The friend is reported to have been left with bad injuries and is currently recuperating in Machakos Level-5 hospital.
The police from Kathiani police station are still investigating the reason behind the man’s death.
The police officers transferred his remains to Kathiani Hospital mortuary.
