Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has challenged county youths, women and persons living with disabilities to work with his government to drive its development agenda forward.
Speaking during the inaugural launch of XABA jobs Fair at Machakos People's Park on Sunday, Mutua said that his government is keen to incorporate youths, women and persons with disability in development programmes.
The governor said that Machakos County will register tremendous development record if marginalised groups work with the government.
“I encourage Machakos youths to partner with the county government and help drive the economy forward,” said Mutua.
The Machakos County boss said that his government has put in place programmes that will see marginalised groups engaged in development.
Mutua said that though there are many challenges facing youth mostly unemployment, his government will devise ways to tackle them.
The governor said his government has partnered with private organisations like Safaricom Limited to create employment for the unemployed youths.
“One of my agenda during the 2013 campaigns was to create employment for the unemployed youths and I am working on realising the promise,” he said.
Mutua asked marginalised groups to apply for government funds and help in realisation of development.
He said the county government is working closely with the national government and stakeholders to eradicate unemployment.
He said that fighting unemployment will be the first step towards realising ‘Maendeleo chap chap’.
