Veronica Mbithe Mativo, a nominated MCA, said the Wednesday night incident happened at around 2:30am.

Mativo revealed that the culprits who she estimated to had been a group of more than 50 people gained entry into her home located in Kinaani village within Athi River District through the fence at the back of the main house after cutting chain link wire.

She said they then switched off the home's electricity at the main switch before smashing window glasses of 5 windows, and also cut their grills.

The MCA who doubles as the national treasurer of CCU Party said she also had both the rear windscreen and right rear side window glass of her car which was parked in front of her house smashed during the incident.

Her husband, Nicholas Mutiso, said he had a dialogue with some of the bandits who were cutting the grills whom he claimed said they had been sent to kill the MCA.

"The bandits kept questioning me where she was," said Mutiso.

Mutiso said he engaged the bandits for almost two and half hours to bar them from gaining access into the house as her wife made phone calls for assistance from friends, neighbours, relatives and the police.

He said it was during the process when the son had his hand cut after he pushed back grills that had been cut by the culprits.

According to Mutiso, the 4 neighbouring homes were manned by other groups of people during the attack to prevent the neighbours from rescuing the besieged home.

"We had rough time engaging them for that long but thank God we managed, they did not manage to gain entry into the house," said Mutiso.

He said the bandits who were armed with all sorts of crude weapons, a G3 rifle, AK47 and 2 pistols shot in the air before they left in a waiting lorry packed few meters from the home as others walked towards a nearby village.
