Machakos town MCA Cornelius Kitheka has decried high cases of crime in the ward and called for urgent police intervention.
Speaking to news reporters at his Machakos office on Saturday, the ward representative said that residents are complaining of increased crime.
He said that cases of people being mugged and robbed of their belongings have gone up in the recent weeks.
The MCA asked the police to move with speed, investigate and take action against the alleged criminals.
“The law enforcers should move with speed and assure residents and business people of their security,” he said.
The MCA noted that it is the responsibility of law enforcers to guarantee security to area residents.
Kitheka on the same note asked the county government to install street lights in Machakos and adjacent estates.
He said the move will help curb crime and help police to conduct frequent patrols.
