Machakos county Assembly members Tuesday passed the supplementary budget for the current financial year amidst sharp division between the pro and anti-Mutua MCAs.
Most of the MCA's that supported the budget based their support on the fact that the county needed to complete many stalled projects such as hospitals and flood lights in markets.
Those opposed to the supplementary budget led by the deputy speaker Nathaniel Nganga accused the county of always using the supplementary budget as a leeway to embezzle funds in the name of paying debts, issuing bursaries which do not reach mwananchi.
41 MCAs supported the supplementary budget while 18 did not support. The budget was hence approved.
Some of the departments that will benefit from the additional funds are; Office of the Governor, Cabinet Office, Office of the County Secretary and Legal Office and the Machakos county Assembly.
