Youth at Matungulu Sub County in Machakos County have told members of the county assembly to stop drama and instead debate issues affecting the residents.
Addressed the Press in Matungulu on Saturday, the youth said majority of members of the county assembly had brought shame to the society for their theatrics at the assembly.
“We are not happy at all with members of the Machakos county assembly most of who are youth. They have brought shame to the youth in the county,” said Josephat Mwende, youth spokesperson.
Mwende argued that apart from the drama the MCAs were engaged in, not much was being done at the assembly to help alleviate issues estranging the youth and the society at large.
The youth also condemned MCAs who take advantage of their positions to seek tenders meant for the youth arguing that the youth should be allowed to fully participate in tendering processes as provided for in the Constitution.
Mwende called for unity among all youth from Machakos County asserting that all the youth should join existing youth groups or start new ones in order to benefit from government funding.
