Speaking to the press after the incident outside the County Assembly buildings, Ndalani Member of County Assembly Stephen Nzioka Muthuka who was one of those who walked out made it clear that he did not agree with Mutua’s utterances.

“The Governor’s speech was not in line with the law of our Nation and besides that he aimed at building his name for personal political gain. We could not seat down and listen to manipulative speech,” said Muthuka.

The Ndalani member further stated the county workers strike that had been set on Wednesday had been called off following threats to the workers union secretary Chris Mutua.

“We had given the executive a 14-day notice to pay the county workers their outstanding balances but as the deadline is due, the workers officials have been threatened to call it off. We want the governor to intervene and resolve the problems oppressing the people of our county first,” he added.

This follows a protracted division, with the drawing line of the differences originating from the supporters of the governor versus those of deputy governor and the senator.

Less than 2 weeks ago, the members stated that once they had returned to the county assembly, they were going to table a bill to impeach the governor.

However, Mutua stated that he was willing to work with all Members of County Assembly and all Machakos leaders in unity with the objective of service to the residents.

“I invite all the members to join me so that we can show the world that Africans can work together,” said Mutua.
