A section of Machakos town residents have expressed different views on a meeting held on April 26 at state house between President Uhuru Kenyatta, Ukambani leaders and professionals.
Ukambani professionals is an organization led by Machakos county governor Dr Alfred Mutua as the patron specifically meant for exchanging ideas and implementing them therefore bringing developments in lower eastern which comprises of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni.
According to some Machakos town residents, the meeting is meant to divide Kamba nation in the name of bringing in developments.
"The meeting between president Uhuru Kenyatta and Kamba professionals does not make any sense. If it was a professional meeting meant to help us as Kamba people, all Kamba leaders could have been present," said Paul Muthei a business person in town.
Peninnah Syombua, another resident expressed her joy on the meeting saying that remaining developments in Machakos not yet through under governor Mutua, a way will be opened up through meeting with president Uhuru kenyatta and the projects will be completed.
"I am so happy our governor and other leaders have joined hands and met with President Uhuru Kenyatta. I trust governor Mutua for all the work he has done to Machakos people and I am sure a way will open up and incomplete projects will be completed," she said.
The meeting was held barely one month after President Uhuru Kenyatta held another meeting with some leaders from Kitui and Makueni counties and laid down some projects to be started and completed before 2017.
Residents said that their happiness is seeing all Kamba leaders uniting inorder to earn respect they deserves from other Kenyan tribes.
